 Suffrage Rally and Parade:
Tuesday, August 27, 4:45 P.M., Balboa Park
Assemble on the grass behind International Cottages 

TIMELINE OF EVENT:

  • 4:45 PM Bodhi Tree Concert Singers present "Songs of Suffrage

  • 5 PM Welcome with a brief history of the 72-year struggle for women's suffrage

  • Performances by "Elizabeth Cady Stanton" and "Susan B. Anthony"

  • Sheryl Mallory Johnson presents a brief history of voting rights of Black women after 1920

  • Performance by Sojourner Truth

  • Margo Porras talks about the voting rights in the Latino community after 1920

  • A representative from the Chinese-American community shares the history of voting rights in the Chinese-American/Asian community 

  • Lori Thiel as "Carrie Chapman Catt"presents the 100-year history of the League of Women Voters

  • San Diego Suffragists: Performances by Dr. Charlotte Baker and Flora Kimball

5:45 PM Then, we march through the Prado, carrying signs and chanting, and making our way through the Organ Pavilion back to the starting point for light refreshments, thanks to Judy Forman and The Big Kitchen.
